Writing about love can be a daunting task; it is a very broad topic. Each of us defines love in different ways based on our experiences. In this post I want to narrow the topic a bit, and focus primarily on God’s love for us and love of self. Many don’t realize this, but the two go hand-in-hand. I want to be clear; I am not talking about a love of self that is narcissistic. I’m referring to a love of self that comes from the knowing that you are an expression of God’s loving energy.
In recent weeks I wrote about manifesting health, wealth, joy and peace. Following those topics with this one is important because love is the key to everything. It is what makes creating the life you want possible. A healthy self-love brings about healthy thoughts, and this is the key to a wonderful, fulfilling life.
We all know, on some level, that loving ourselves is important. There are countless books on the subject, and yet most of us still aren’t able to truly love and accept who we are.
The popular song, “All of Me” has a powerful lyric that I think we can apply to how we love ourselves. It goes, “Love your curves and all your edges, all your perfect imperfections.” We may find it possible to love and accept our partners, families and friends in all of their imperfection, yet we don’t extend the same love and acceptance to ourselves. Learning to love our own imperfections is crucial to loving ourselves. We are in human form in order to take part in this classroom called earth. In that, we are perfectly imperfect. Begin to see yourself as the student you are, learning and growing as you go.
I’d like you to take a moment—close your eyes and see yourself bathed in God’s joy, peace and love. This is our true state of being. You are never outside of God’s loving embrace. Question yourself when you hear the voice in your head belittling or criticizing you. Is that how God would speak to one of his children? The Guys teach that each of us is a priceless work of art painted by the artistic hand of God. That includes you!
As one who has had a near death experience, I can assure you that we are loved much more than that mere words can express. One only has to open their heart, eyes and ears to experience the love, peace and joy that is all around us. Can you feel it? Can you see it?
